Prior to these appointments, he held positions at RWTH Aachen University (Germany), University of California, San Diego (USA) as well as Fraunhofer IPSI, Darmstadt (Germany) and was guest researcher at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Ikoma (Japan), the Medical University Graz (Austria), and the University of Tokyo, Tokyo (Japan).
