He has since worked for Heriot-Watt University, where he leads the Biomedical Informatics Systems Engineering Lab. His research interest includes distributed biomedical informatics, data integration and semantic web technologies. His particular research focus is on biomedical atlas systems, which combine the management of images and their semantic descriptions via ontologies as computational frameworks.
