The Fortezza da Basso has always been the<strong>\u00a0main venue of the exhibition center<\/strong>\u00a0in Florence since 1967 and it is strategically located in the historic city centre.<\/p>\n<p>This complex and prestigious environment\u00a0<strong>combines charming and perfectly restored historic places<\/strong>\u00a0(such as the Quartieri Monumentali \u2013 the Monumental Area \u2013 or the Polveriera) with<strong>\u00a0modern pavilions<\/strong>, specifically built to increase the space availability,\u00a0<strong>such as the Spadolini Pavilion,\u00a0built on three floors<\/strong>\u00a0(opened in 1977)\u00a0<strong>and the more recently built Cavaniglia Pavilion<\/strong>\u00a0(opened in 1996).<\/p>\n<p>Following these requirements, differentiated ways were organised, allowing exhibitors to access\u00a0<strong>internal areas<\/strong>\u00a0even with large trucks, and allowing visitors to benefit from various city connections (taxis, buses and trams) with\u00a0the international airport Amerigo Vespucci, the central railway station of Santa Maria Novella and the numerous parking areas nearby.<\/p>\n<h2>Transportation to the Convention Centre<\/h2>\n<p><strong><em>From the main train station<\/em><\/strong>: From the main train station you can reach the Congress Centre in 5 minutes walking.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>From the airport<\/em><\/strong>: A bus connection (Linea-Volainbus) is operating from the airport to the city centre (main station) every 20-25 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Taxis<\/em><\/strong>: Taxis in Florence can be ordered by phone (Tel. +39 055 4242 or 4390) or found at the official taxi stands. You cannot stop a taxi on the road.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Bus<\/em><\/strong>: Florence has a comprehensive network of local bus routes. Most of them stop at the main railway station and therefore near to the convention venue. Bus tickets can be purchased at most coffee bars and kiosks.
