Albert Burger

Dr Burger has a BSc, MSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Applied Sciences, Augsburg, Germany, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, USA, and the University of Edinburgh, UK, respectively. He has since worked for Heriot-Watt University, where he leads the Biomedical Informatics Systems Engineering Lab. His research interest includes distributed biomedical informatics, data integration and semantic web technologies. His particular research focus is on biomedical atlas systems, which combine the management of images and their semantic descriptions via ontologies as computational frameworks. He has been Principal Investigator on a number of UK and EU funded research projects.
